Toitoi is an arts, culture and events facility located in Hastings, New Zealand. It offers a wide range of spaces including the Opera House, Functions on Hastings, the Cushing Foyer and the neighbouring historic Municipal Building.
Toitoi offers a unique blend of stunning heritage architecture and modern technology and has hosted a number of different events such as concerts, shows, conferences, exhibitions and more.
Toitoi needed a solution that could help in raising brand awareness and in promoting upcoming and current events. The arts and events centre required additional indoor displays inside their venues and durable high-brightness outdoor displays to capitalise on the foot traffic of the busy South Hastings Street.
Toitoi did not use any content management software and found it difficult to update their displays’ content resulting in their team rarely changing the content of their screens.
We installed an outdoor digital signage kiosk with 2x Samsung OH55F displays in a custom fabricated dual-sided housing. The screens themselves have an IK10 durability rating and have IP56 ingress protection rating. With 2,500-nit brightness and anti-reflection glass, the screens offer excellent visibility even under direct sunlight.
We also installed Samsung window displays inside Toitoi to further attract passers-by and advertise events and services that the venue provides. The window displays have an embedded SoC that runs Signagelive CMS for easy content management.
The legacy screens were retrofitted with BrightSign media players to run Signagelive CMS to easily update Toitoi’s content.
Overall, the installation of the outdoor digital signage kiosk, Samsung window displays, and retrofitting of legacy screens was a success. The new displays offer excellent visibility and are able to withstand harsh outdoor conditions. The use of Signagelive CMS for content management makes it easy for Toitoi to update their content on all displays. This project has provided Toitoi with an effective way to attract passers-by and advertise events and services.
