Bose Professional

Bose Professional build audio for commercial spaces, with loudspeakers, amplifiers, processors and control software designed as one system rather than assembled from parts that happen to fit. They have been supplying AV integrators for over 50 years.

What that focus buys you is zoning. A retail floor rarely wants one sound: the entrance needs energy, a treatment room needs quiet, and a mezzanine needs to not bleed into the level below. Bose Professional systems are built to run each of those as its own zone, with its own source and its own volume, on one network.

Commercial Audio, End to End

Four product families cover most of what a retail, hospitality or corporate site needs. Because they’re designed to work together, we’re commissioning one processor, one network and one set of tuning presets rather than four vendors and a patch bay.

Loudspeakers. The range we specify most. Sixteen models across in-ceiling, surface-mount and pendant, from a 2.25-inch flush unit to a 12-inch full-range box, including two subwoofers. We mount the surface models into lighting track where there’s no ceiling to work with, and use the IP55 SE models outdoors, in wash-down areas and back-of-house.

DesignMax

Directional in-ceiling. When the ceiling is already busy, or the interior won’t wear a grid of speakers, we use EdgeMax. It throws sound outward from a perimeter position rather than straight down, so we cover the same floor area with fewer units and fewer penetrations.

Amplifiers. Total power is shared across the four outputs instead of split evenly, so we can drive a fitting room and a double-height atrium off one box without stranding capacity or bridging channels. Every model runs low-impedance or 70/100V direct with no jumpers, and Dante is built in on all of them.

PowerShare

Processors. The system brain, and where we do the actual design work — matrix mixing, zone routing, per-zone EQ and limiting, source priority, paging logic and scheduling. The EX-1280 carries 64 x 64 Dante channels over one Cat 5 or 6 run, so we can put amplifiers local to the zones instead of home-running every cable back to one rack.

Designing and Running the System

Bose Professional publish the design tools and the end-user software.

ControlSpace Designer

In ControlSpace Designer we build the system as a schematic, configure the DSP, apply the loudspeaker EQ presets and set amplifier alarms and impedance monitoring. We set the logic, timers and schedules there too, so zones come up and down with trading hours without anyone touching a panel.

ControlSpace Remote

ControlSpace Remote gives staff volume, mute, source selection and preset recall, on panels grouped into zones that mirror the building rather than the equipment rack. It runs on Android, iOS, Windows and macOS. We author the panels, so your team gets the controls they need and can’t reconfigure the routing by accident.

Australian supply and support

Bose Professional has no Australian office, so we source through WESCO Anixter, the authorised distributor for Australia and New Zealand since 2024, with a Bose Professional Experience Centre at their Silverwater office in Sydney. Installed-sound loudspeakers, amplifiers and processors carry a five-year limited warranty.

Bose Professional at MECCA Bourke Street

At MECCA’s Bourke Street flagship we built 17 zones of audio, each with its own curated music: over 125 speakers, nine PowerShare amplifiers and one ControlSpace EX-8ML, distributed over Dante.

We changed the speaker to suit the space. DesignMax DM3SE units mount into the lighting track through the main retail areas, with recessed DM3C where the ceiling allowed it. The open ground floor runs to a high ceiling, so we used DM10S-SUB subwoofers to carry the low end across it.

Level One has eight treatment rooms, and we gave each one an independent source and its own volume control, which is the whole argument for zoning rather than one system turned down. MECCA staff are able to run them all from an Android tablet in the manager’s office. Darren Farrell, our Head of Technology, walks the system zone by zone in this video.
